Are You Salty?

I live in Dallas, Texas, and this week we had an ice storm that lasted four days. It was only supposed to be a day and a half, but we are still seeing the effects of this storm. Being from Ohio, I kept saying that all they had to do was put some salt down on the ground, and then it would be safe for traveling. I said that a lot.

Now it's Friday, and things are clearing up, with a few slippery spots in a lot of places, but I got up again and said, "Why didn't they put any salt out there?" And I thought, spiritually, "Why aren't God's people putting any salt out there?" Being a Christian, take a look over your life in Christ and seriously ask yourself: If you knew your salt could provide safety for others, would you pour it on them or just let them go into the world slipping and sliding, knowing they could seriously hurt themselves? Being the salt of the earth is more important now than ever. We don't have to agree with the way the world is going, but if we are not being the light they need to stop sinning, then what good are we to God? We are just walking around like saltless people. Be the seasoning in someone's life so they can see, smell, and taste Him again.

Matthew 5:13, KJV, Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
